Civil Society Position on the State Target Program for the Fair Transformation of Ukraine's Coal Regions until 2030 has been updated

As we previously reported, experts from the Center for International Cooperation and Project Implementation took part in the development of an updated Civil Society Position on the State Targeted Program for the Fair Transformation of Ukraine's Coal Regions for the period up to 2030. This position outlines the civil society's vision of the measures to be envisaged by the program.

The Ministry of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure resumed work on the development of the State Target Program for the Fair Transformation of Coal Regions until 2030 in October 2023.  Since then, civil society has reconsidered its position on this program, taking into account the new challenges that Ukraine has faced since 2022 when the Russians began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that the full-scale invasion led to catastrophic consequences for the Luhansk, Donetsk, and partially Dnipro regions. Active hostilities, bombing, mining of territories, and artificial flooding of mines by the occupiers, not only lead to social and financial losses in mining communities but also to catastrophic environmental consequences.
